About Us

Disease surveillance is an important component of public health programme. It has two essential purposes, monitoring the progress of ongoing interventions for disease reduction and early detection of outbreaks in order to initiate investigations and control measures.

The idea of was conceived by Indian Academy of Pediatrics Kutch Branch and was initiallly supported technically & financially by Child Health Foundation from grant received for "Prevent Pneumonia - Save the Child Campaign" from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Initially was designed only for Kutch district. After interest shown in this project by IAP COI and CIAP, a MOU was signed between IAP Kutch Branch and CIAP to make this project available nationwide for all IAP members. Initially only 9 diseases where under surveillance. Hepatitis surveillance was added later on. Recently we have started surveillance for serious AEFI on the IDsurv platform with support Government of India.


- To develop an early warning system for pediatric vaccine preventable diseases in India

- To generate data on burden of vaccine preventable diseases in India

- To generate data on Severe AEFI in India

At present following disease are being reported under IDsurv Project:

Acute Bacterial Meningitis
Acute Encephalitis syndrome
chicken pox
